This was the one that caught my eye at NovaTech but Im pretty sure I managed to customize a PC at PC Options (or Arbico.. one or the other) and got it about the same price with XP pro installed (no Vista for me if I can help it... not worth the hassle just for DirectX10.)..

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... ml?PC-1151
As I say Im not too well up on the actual building of PCs from scratch so Im gonna have to go with pre-built.. if anyone thinks this aint as good a deal as it seems to me let me know other options... still got a month or two of saving yet so nothing is set in stone.

Hey AsTo, check out the E8400 if your going with a dual core. http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7096.html

You can over clock it to 4g on air !!!
It runs cooler and uses less power the the older E6xxx series.

I'm using one of these now and I can tell ya that it just screams !!!

Nice... similar spec PC to above but with XP (SP2) and disc, and I think just 200gb HDD,dual 86001gbSli and E8400 comes in at £504 excluding delivery :)

Think you just changed my mind on CPU Lager thnx.

To max out the new E8xxx series chips you will want a mb that can support 45nm tech.

Check this one out: ASUS P5E http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3& ... odelmenu=1

You can use the fastest memory speed and front side bus.
I would go with DDR2 right now because it has lower latency at all cpu use except 100% where DDR3 is faster.

:) thats the mobo I already specified in the pricing... it automatically adds that mobo with the SLI cards so no big deal there LoL... I also added it as a mobo upgrade just to be on the safe side.. I think it was something like an extra £40 to add that... its also already DDR2 (800)... so... up to now its looking like a good choice. I also tried doing a similar spec last night with some other upgrades and got carried away LoL.. bumped up the price to £650 which the gf wasnt too pleased about..... shes insisting I stay around the £550 max mark for my budget. Im happy if its got space left for extra ram etc. Btw.. off the top of your head do you know how many DIMM slots that mobo has and how many IDE (HDDs) it can handle? My last PC could only have 2 HDD (Master and Slave) and 2 CD/DVD Drives.... Im hoping I wont have to go out and buy a larger HDD to accomodate everything.

Might be an idea to change the topic title since I jacked my own thread LoL

It has 4 dimm slots and one IDE that can handle a master and slave. If you can manage to get new SATA drives, I would recommend doing so, it's much faster then IDE. I'm using two 10,000 rpm Raptors in a RAID 0 config and it loads soooo fast!!!!

I had to connect a floppy drive just to get it to load Windows XP as XP in it's stock form will not load to this mobo/chip combo (it's too new). If your going to load XP on yourself, you will need a have a floppy drive on hand to update a small patcch to Windows. No need to leave the floppy connected once your done.

12 USB's ???? WTF !!!!! LOL !!!!
