My Pc lately smells like its burning when i sniff around the top vents were the water cooler is. What from that would cause the smell and is this a bad thing? First pc with water cooling for me so still new to that.

Could be the pump failing. My AIO cooler had a very distinct odor when it started to go bad. Luckily I caught it before the motor completely quit.

AIO coolers are ok but some of the newer air coolers can work just as good or better especially if you don't overclock.

This is the best air cooler that you can get other than the HUGE $120+ Noctua NH-D15. The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 is available in black or white, with or without argb fans for around $50.

This is the one that I got. Absolutely love it. It has no problem fitting in my case. It actually cools better than the Corsair H100i AIO that burnt up. Its cooling my AMD Ryzen 7 5800X very very well. Current CPU temp is 36c while watching a movie on youtube but it is a little chilly upstairs. around 64F 17.7c. I bought it in July of this year and it never got above 68c on a 100F+ day.

Here is the one that I bought. The White ARGB one was on sale for $43 when I got mine. It's currently $54.90.

Here is the review that I watched before buying this cooler.

My PC is a prebuilt which i normally dont do but my luck has been bad building one so i just bought one on sell. Its an iBuy Power with Ryzen 7 7700 and rtx 4070. So it has the stock water cooling from ibuypower in it. I dont feel confident enough to change or add a new one. My luck it will break.

Also it only smells once in a while when gaming. At idle its 34C and 50C in game or so.

Keep a close eye on the temps. The good thing about these newer CPUs is that they will thermal throttle when they start to overheat. The hotter they get the lower the core clock speed.
Bad thing is that the distilled water in the cooler will start boiling at around 100 °C and the pressure will eventually blow the hoses off. My brother had that happen with his old 120mm Corsair H50 AIO cooler when the pump failed.

There might be a recall for those AIO coolers in effect. The pump is made by Apaltek. They are notoriously unreliable and have a very very high failure rate. Some even failing within the 1st 2 months. MSI and NZXT both issued recalls for there AIOs that have the Apaltek pump. I'm kinda surprised that iBuyPower hasn't recalled them but from all the reviews that I've read about iBuyPower as a company they are pretty darn dishonest.

I would contact iBuyPower ASAP about getting a replacement especially if it's still under warranty. I just read on iBuyPowers web site that they extended the warranty to 3 years on all of there AIO coolers as of 2022.

I would give them a call and see if they will send you another cooler. This is there Technical Support number and hours.
