Fantastic jake!

Added another point to the Scoring system.

Also added the basic {ESC} Freeze Tag Rules used for the tournament.

All right, here it comes ! This should be for us the big event of the end of the year, and after last year's tryout which was quite a success, we decided to renew the experience and make this an annual event. As always, all comments and suggestions are more than welcome to make this as good an event as possible.

This will be a 3v3 Freeze Tag Tournament, starting on Saturday, November 3rd and lasting 3 to 4 weeks, matches being played mostly on Saturdays. Here are more details concerning the organization of the tournament.

Tournament Rules

{ESC} Freeze Tag Rules

The mod and rules used for the tournament are the same than on our main Freeze Tag Server.
No offensive names, language or behaviour towards admins or other players (in any language).
No bunnyhopping or dolphindiving.
No glitching / going outside of the map.
All weapons and perks available allowed.
Spawncamping is allowed.
Wallspamming is tolerated.

Teams

Each team will consist in 3 players, one of whom will be Team Captain. 3 players can directly register their team if they have one ready. Players interested who do not have a team as of now can still register and a team will be arranged or assigned, on the basis of each player’s schedule. The Team Captain will be the intermediary between the Organization and his team : he will be communicated the matches schedule to forward to his teammates, and he will be asked to report the scores of each encounter on the forums.

Structure

The structure of the tournament will depend on the number of teams registered. If we have more than a certain amount of teams registered, each team will be assigned to a Group with 3 or 4 other teams, and the 2 best scoring teams in that group will reach the finals. If we have fewer teams registered than needed to implement this system, all the teams will face each other once and a progressive ranking will be established.

Schedule

The first matches will be played on Saturday, November 3rd, and we plan on hosting the last matches on the last weekend of November. So the tournament should last 4 weeks, maybe 3. Matches will mostly be played on Saturdays, with occasionally a few matches planned on Sundays if it makes it easier for some teams.
One of the main features of our tournament is that there is no fixed time for the matches. The Organization will be collecting every player’s schedule, and arrange every match according to these schedules. That means that the time for one team’s matches may vary from one week to another, but always within the time indications given by all members. This system allows players from different timezones to register to the tournament and have the possibility to play against each other.

Maps

The maps to be played are predetermined, chosen by the referees and organized in Sets. Each team is going to play each set once. The maps included in each set will not be made public before the match, so as to keep it fair between the teams who have time to over-practice on a map and those who don’t. A few minutes will be given at the beginning of each map to allow teams to walk around the map and implement their strategy.
Each match is composed of 3 maps. A map is played until one team reaches 3 rounds won. All 3 maps are to be played even if a team is declared winner of the match after the first two maps.

Substitutes

A team is allowed to call in one substitute in each match, should they be one player down. Any spare player must be announced the day before the match. If a team didn’t manage to find a substitute they will have to play 2v3.

Forfeit

If only one or no player at all is online in time to represent their team, they will need to forfeit for this match. A loss will be counted and a win awarded to the opponent team. Rescheduling the match is an option -if the opponent team agrees-, but nothing can be ensured.
If a team considers forfeiting because one or several of their players will not be able to play anymore, please refer to me before taking a decision, we may find solutions to keep you on track, such as exceptionally increasing the number of allowed substitutes.

Scoring

Each match being composed of 3 maps, if a team wins 2 maps out of 3 it is considered winner of the encounter.
Winning a match gives 3 points.
Scoring a draw gives 1 point.
Losing a match gives 0 point.
Winning a match 3-0 (3 maps to 0) gives 4 points
Winning a match by 7 or more rounds up gives 5 points.
Losing a match with 5 rounds or more scored gives 1 point.

Ex: A team winning its match 3-0 ; 3-1 ; 3-1 will score 5 points.
A team winning its match 3-2 ; 3-2; 3-2 will score 4 points. The losing team will also score 1 point.
A team winning its match 3-1 ; 3-0 ; 1-3 will score 3 points.

>>> All rounds are important, and a match is never over

We still are working on a few elements such as the referees, the scoring system and the map sets, more to come on all of this in the next few days. The structure of the tournament will also be decided as the registration phase goes on.

Tournament Planning

The registration for players is open until Thursday, October 25th.

The registration for teams is open until Tuesday, October 30th.

This means that players who registered without a team have until the 30th to form or join a team with the other players interested.

The first matches should be played on Saturday, November 3rd.

All are more than welcome !
