I have always had a loyalty to NVidia and was upset when AMD took on ATI.
I had got hook way back on the MX440 and still have two of them running.

And like you said you can't beat there software.

I would usually go to you for advice Lane. But here's my 2 cents anyways. My first real gaming machine was an ATI. It wasn't bad. But it always just seemed like Nvidia had the money and resources to oust ATI every time they came out with an improvement. Not that it really matters to me anyways, because it's not like I'm buying every single new game that comes out. I now seem to just buy Nvidia out of habit. LOL.

After 8 yrs with Nvidia and wanting to switch :bravo2:
Since i've been gaming always Nvid but have been temtped to try ATI please let us know if the dark side is worth it.

"Evil began in a time before recorded history, when magicians made themselves into kings…and gods…using the powers of the dark side of the Force. The weak-minded have ever been ready to obey one who wields great power. Those who learned the powers of the dark side were quick to exploit this weakness—to make war. Again and again the dark side has surged forth, like a storm…devouring whole worlds and entire star systems. Those who mastered dark power became dark power. They unleashed destruction, for no other reason than for selfish gain. They despoiled nations…destroyed whole civilizations. Some of them, I am ashamed to say, were ESC."

AMD/ATI is a good bang for the buck. The down side is the driver support. The drivers usually work great as long as you use the ones that came with the card on disc. Anything after that is a crap shoot. That is why i switch to Nvidia way back when nForce was the hot item. I keep thinking about trying a AMD/ATI everyone once in a while until i listen to other friends in other clans talk about all the issues with drivers, bad software install, overheating and game compatibility. I've learned a long time ago you get what you pay for. Buy cheap get cheap

Lane watch your temps on the ATI 5870 they run very hot, and with the bad drivers it will run even hotter!
