Intel i5 8600k was the winning choice. Paired with 2400 ddr4, 1060 ssc 6gb, 750 evga gq psu, h12 cooler, 2 240 GB and, and dg-7 case. Been up for a week and running absolutely great. Turbos at 4 3 to 4.5, I actually under clocked the turbo to 4.0 as stock is 3.6 and I'm really in no hurry to burn up another chip. Temps hold steady idle at 34 c° and 48 c° under heavy load in PUBG. All in all In very happy with Intel at the moment

So we haven't seen you in game in quite a while - how's the build going?

It's been done for a month. I have popped in briefly. Been playing a lot of PUBG lately but I will hop on this week and try to get some games in. Build took a little longer than I hoped but once I was able to get started it couldn't of gone better.

Nice.  Video cards prices dropped last week below MSRP on a few 1080 cards.  Sometimes I wish my machine would break so I could justify building another one. :)

Well, my machine won't boot, I smell that familiar electrical burn inside. Tested power supply, installed new power supply, light just briefly flashes when the power button is pressed.

So after a quick Google search, hit the microcenter not sure what I was getting, walked away with the Ryzen 2600X for $189.

You have a day to talk me out of this build... And even then I may start tonight.

Just a matter of preference. The Zen 2600x is supposed to be a good cpu. Another 30.00 would of got you the 8600k. Either way you will be happy I think. AMD has severe quality control issues, which was my deciding factor in bailing on them completely. Wont be going back to AMD anytine soon. Hope your happy with the build though

so far, so good.  unfortunately this motherboard doesn't have VGA so I can't hook up my second monitor to see how it performs while I'm gaming.  I'll have to spring for another monitor with hdmi to have a second screen through the MB graphics.  I couldn't figure out the AMD equivalent for XMP timing, so I just manually set it to PC3400 and specified the voltage manually.  the MB was defaulting to 1.2 volts.    Also my HD light flickers non-stop 24/7, but I don't see any HD activity in the performance monitor.  Read about driver issues, tried updating, couldn't get it to stop.

Im sure a hot fix will be issued for the hd light. XMP for Amd is AMP(if I remember correctly). Most ram is 1.5 volts with ddr4 and all my AMD boards defaulted my ram to 1.2. Pros and cons for both intel and aMD. Glad ypur happy! I love my intel
