I'm confused. Does someone drive the trike and have other people sit on the bench seat?

Looks like you used a 1600 dual port motor.
I got some tips and tricks for VW motors. Can get you more power from the engine with just a FEW things. Many of them little to no money.
I can also tell you how to get rid of those flat spots. if your interested. looks good btw.

Yes my old trike was a STD 1600 DP. My next one will have bigger jugs possibly but don't know yet. Yeah i know a lot of the lil tricks and so on. But if ya wanna post some that would be appreciated. Yes Jane the bench seat is for riders. But over all I'm not really going for power yet just more into just cruising for now. This will be a slow detailed build that will take about six months or so. But will be defiantly worth the work and wait. Plus this one i will keep to pass down to my son.

I know the old school tricks. dont mod with new gear. However their is a place near me that does a turbo charger for the 1600 dual port. Works good too. Guy manufactures them himself.
Take of the 34 pict carb and put a earlier model carb on it. its a flow restriction. As explained by my bug guru, suck through a thin straw its easy suck through a big fat straw its harder. The narrower neck allows for faster and more concentrated fuel passage. Also the small metal fuel dispensing tube in the carb should be off to the right a bit. Thats due to the shape of the carb. most people dont realize this.
butterfly valve has a small hole in it, put a rivet in it. Closing it off this allows for better suction and will alleviate the slight lag in the engine at certain speeds.
Oil valve covers both sides on the bottom of the engine. Put a breather on them. yes takes a bit of modification but its well worth it as it keeps that oil cooler and thus extends the life of the engine as well as allows for better performance.
The one thing I see that I do NOT like on the finished trike you showed was the independent exhaust. yes it can be done and sounds cool the problem is they mess up the back flow/pressure dynamics of the motor. Its unreliable and the engine is very complicated to keep balanced at that point.
I am sure you already know about advancing the timing by 10%.
heck I could do this all day but I am sure you know much if not all of this.
