Since I have to rebuild Im really having a hard time deciding which platform to run. After my last experience with AMD and my 8350 barely making it a year I was all set to abandon AMD all in all. With a new platform being pretty costly I have been reading review after review and apparently Ryzen is shitting on intel especially for streaming+gaming. While Im not trying to be a famous streamer I want to provide good quality when we stream our events. Does anybody have any experience with the Ryzen 1800x or the i5 8600k? My biggest concern with AMD is their random quality issues, its like a lottery some cpu's perform to spec while others wont even hit stock specs and then there is the lousy memory controller. Considering I can get the 1800x, mobo, and cooler for less the just the i5 and mobo (intel doesnt supply cooler hmmm) it looks like the 1800x is the better choice.

I built a Ryzen system for my brother and I was absolutely stunned at how fast it was (Windows 10 booted up in less than 10 seconds on an NVMe SSD). As far as longevity, it's a fairly new tech so it's hard to tell. If you look past all the RGB sync which is just visually stunning and not actually functional, the Ryzen is still impressive. From what I've read, the Ryzen is blowing Intel out of the water and their prices are unbeatable (not to mention, they're more visually stunning). I know what I would choose.. and it isn't In$el.
BTW, I'm posting this video because I got really excited watching it... It's better than porn.
Looks like the intel is performing better - so then I would look at the cost. Considering my old machines always end up being a server in the end, an 8 core would be awesome!

For just gaming the intel came out on top, however for gaming and streaming the Zen won hands down in most if not all the reviews I read. Add that I can get a 1800x cheaper than both the i7 and the i5 its looking like Ryzen may be the winning choice. Im hoping to hear some from people with hands on expereince before I make the final decision http://www.microcenter.com/product/5000 ... ard_Bundle http://www.microcenter.com/product/5000 ... ard_Bundle
8 cores for $350 isn't too bad if it games with in 10% frame rate of the intel. the high RAM prices are killing me right now. $510 I could switch from my Gen 2 i-2600 to the Ryzen 8 core and use my EVGA 1080
I'll be very interested in your build when you go through with it. I had been looking over 6 Core Intels, and couldn't decide if they would benefit me at all....but would definitely cost some money.
Im going intel!!! Way to many complaints on the zen chips. The one thing that stood out was the report AMD made that "All their CPU's start as an 1800x but very few of them are able to hold the speeds so they become lower generations like the 1700". HUH? Is there no real process to how they manufacture chips at AMD? It just sounds like a crap shoot. toss up between the I5 8600k and i7 8700k. I just cant comfortably spend 300+ on a AMD chip with their random temps and random speeds from 1 cpu to the next. One owner may have an amazing chip while 2 others get the short end chip that doesnt turbo and runs hot as hell on stock speeds and volts

Runs hot, but handles the heat. If you do any sort of overclocking, I'd suggest AMD. I attempted to OC once... accidentally overclocked by 60%... If that was an Intel chip, it'd have cooked.
