Flat screen TV- Do you have one?

Hello everyone
Flat screens are very popular now and I was wondering which way some of you may have gone (LCD or Plasma), and why.
I'm trying to settle a debate and just wanted to get some input from our little gaming community.
Cheers, Lager
(next up: Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD)

Got a 42" Panasonic plasma in the lounge, but its not great.
My housemate bought it, but should have got a pioneer INO, way better picture.
What size you thinking of buying??

I'm not thinking of buying one, just trying to settle a disagreement at work.
Why do people buy what they do? Best picture, lowest price???

I own a 32" LCD wide screen Samsung . I had to replace my RCA counsel
I picked LCD over Plasma for both price and longevity.
Both suffer short life span "as far as Brightness" The Plasma would have to be replaced, And I hope the LCD you would just have to replace the light.

k its a bit of a double edged sword afaik... LCD and Plasma both pretty much have comparable picture quality (especially when using HD). Plasma is probably slightly better IMO plus from my limited experience of LCD TVs Ive found the optimal viewing position is directly facing the screen. If you are off to one side the picture starts to darken the further your angle from the center. Personally I plumped for an LCD.. reason being the guys in the stores I spoke to all said that the plasma in the tv will have to be replaced roughly every 3-5 years.. the cost of which is pretty much equal to buying a new TV. Whereas an LCD should (in theory) last forever (or as long as the components inside last).. the only thing that can go wrong is the backlight... this is replaceable but the cost of doing so is basically a sliding scale... the more expensive the TV the more the parts tend to cost and despite what you may have been told cheaper doesnt necessarily mean badly built LoL. As far as the argument goes there really is no definitive answer unfortunately unless the debate is about value for money, in which case Id say the LCD is more economical (just my 2 cents tho
)
