i had a soundcard from ASUS wich simulated 5.1 sound tru headphones, Dolby headphone. sounded awesome!

But after 2 BSOD's per game and freezing FLASH video's , changing memory in their lane's , different drivers. (and more) i decided to bring it back to the shop , because if was beginning to get frustrated..

But i DID miss that awesome sound.. i could hear things i never heard before lioke people walking in cod4 when they had dead silence....

googling for emulators i came across this one.

installed it and sound improved! calibrating the sound you clearly CAN hear from wich direction it is coming.

i haven't tested it yet ingame... so don't know if it causes more lag of less FPS but don't think so.

Just a tip, any suggestions/ tips/ experiences? post them here :)

Vampie, I too have used the razer surround sound with my turtle beach headset. There was a big improvement when I started using that.I didn't see any noticeable difference in lag while using that during game play. When my turtle beach headset broke I decided to go with true 5.1 instead of virtual so I went with these. http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product ... ct_id=3048 As much as the razer surround improved my turtle beach headset it was nothing compared to what I hear in game now.The difference is just awesome. I don't experience any of the problems the negatives reviewers had. I have tested them with music and movies as well and they are just a great all around headset in my opinion. :)

I use razer surround ingame mostly because I have the razer Kraken headset and the software goes nicely with them. I think it's a very well made software and works for what it is intended to do. I also have the Creative Sound Blaster ZxR sound card too but still use the software because I like the 7.1 feature. It hasn't caused me any lag or problems, it just uses a little more RAM. True surround sound will always be better than the simulated sound.
Clays love me too much

i have a steelseries 5HV3 headset , wich is a good stereo gaming headset.
I'll be playing for a while with the razer emulator and i think i will install a new soundcard when i get a new PC... or when the soundblasters become a bit cheaper :)

I'm not sure I like this, app - but I installed it. It also installed Synapse 2.0 which I have dodged ever since it came out. I have the Black Widow Mechanical Keyboard, and my 3rd Razer mouse (who knows which model). As I was looking at the website, I saw the "game booster" application which I said: "WTH - I'll try it".

Game Booster - in a nutshell, I noticed things were better. Then, I couldn't load the 3rd map with out it hanging with 20 open COD4 windows. I looked over what Game Booster was doing, then I shut it down, and made one change to my computer, and it appears all my little hitches and glitches are gone. it's weird I see the red lines (detection for being hit) and I die before I hear the sounds in game - but everything is accurate. If I lead a shot now, I'm hitting when I think I should, and close quarter combat is much better. I observed a little hitch when someone used the shotgun, but it was not like the server hit the pause button this time. When I shot someone, I'd hold the the trigger just long enough, let go, wait - I killed them. I'm still seeing "lag", but my game is doing what I expect it to do. Previously I'd shoot at someone standing still, and never got a hit. Things just kept getting worse and worse. Unfortunately, I discovered this about the time I needed to sleep, so I only played one map with this new change.

Q. What did I change to stop my "Lag"?

A. I observed previously my CPU was changing between 1.8 and 3.4 GHZ and I assumed that it ramped up while in full screen, and dropped because I 'tabbed' out of game. 2 days ago I hooed up a second monitor, and put all my widgets where I could watch them while playing. I realized my assumption was wrong, and my CPU was not steady. I went to windows power management, and changed my machine from "Balanced" to "High Performance" and instantly my CPU stays at 3.401 mhz. I change it back when I'm done since my machine doesn't need to run full speed any other time of the day.

Since you can't monitor this stuff in game (with out second screen), I made assumption that was wasn't able to verify. I've been a little upset I upgrade from AMD to Intel i5 - then upgraded that to i7 - only to have game seem mediocre, and leave me feeling like I've wasted my time and money. I'm not sure how I feel about Anti-Lag yet, I need to spend a few more hours and see how my game is against the HPB's. So far so good. I'll post some more into the Anti-Lag Thread after I've played a day.

After fixing my lag, I was able to evaluate this 7.1 simulator. Position wise it was awesome. Unfortunately it was 1 to 2 seconds behind actual game play. I would read the text when I naded someone before I heard the explosion. I'd wait for footsteps only to realize my sound was behind. I would never hear a grenade bounce until after I was already dead.

This software introduces an unwelcomed delay in the timing of sounds. Neat concept - but not worth the loss of playability.

i did not install Synapse with the package.... happy with my 8200 dpi sharkoon and MS sidewinderX4 keyboard.

Gamebooster...... i did install it in the past.. few times. at first you think something has improved.. but its nothinbg significant for me.

As for the sound delay ? i haven't noticed it yet, will keep a closer look.
