I just switched my AMD to Intel with the core i7 14700k. I have an thermal right 120 refine se air cooler already that does meh to ok I guess. I ordered a new one in the link below. Does anyone know if it will be ok or have a different recommendation for air cooling? I don't want to go back to AIO. I have googled but trust y'all more than google people I don't know at all.

The $40 Thermalright Peerless Assassin PA120 was the best Air cooler you could get other than the huge Noctua NHD15 that costs $110 and only fits in certain cases.

Thermalright just released the Peerless Assassin 140 not long ago. If it's better than the 120 then it will beat the Noctua because they were almost even in cooling performance and the Thermalright actually beat it in several tests.

Both have mounting hardware for LGA1700 so they will work with your CPU.

I've been running a White PA120 ARGB model for a few months now with my Ryzen 7 5800X3D and it actually cools better than my old Corsair H100i V2 AIO when it was working. Stupid pump decided to crap out, luckily these newer CPUs will thermal throttle way way down to prevent damage.

They have a 120 SE model for around $34 but I haven't seen reviews on it yet.

Gamers nexus did a really really good benchmark on the PA120 a year ago if ya want to watch it.

Sounds like it's running better than ever from what you told me in game. Glad I could help. That cooler might be cheaply priced but they work very very well. They even beat some of the AIO coolers in cooling performance. I'm never going back to an AIO cooler after having 2 pumps fail. Only thing that can go bad on an air cooler is the fans.

Oh if you upgrade the 2 fans to something like those $28 Noctua NF-F12 PWM Chromax fans, it will even run cooler. The fans on the Thermalright Peerless Assassin PA120 are pretty good the there are much better ones available.
